ArmorGroup Statement On Iraq Incident

ArmorGroup Statement On Iraq Incident

ArmorGroup has today released the following statement regarding the incident in Iraq on Sunday 9 August.

“This is a tragic and devastating incident, not only for the families of Paul McGuigan and Darren Hoare but for their many colleagues, still working in Iraq, who are shocked that this has happened.  The camaraderie amongst the team there is very strong and needless to say, the atmosphere amongst them is currently subdued and sombre. We are doing everything we can to support Paul and Darren’s families and our thoughts are with them at this very difficult time.

“We are providing ongoing support and counselling to colleagues in Iraq who are doing a fantastic job of servicing our clients despite the emotion and sadness of losing two very special colleagues who will be greatly missed. We are grateful to our clients for their ongoing support and messages of comfort that we have received from them.

“We have a solid track record of recruiting high quality, committed individuals to work in our very strong teams in difficult markets such as Iraq and we are proud of the important work they do there.

“At present, we are unable to comment on any information relating to Daniel Fitzsimons, due to the ongoing investigation, suffice to say we have offered our full support to the Iraqi authorities.  Specifically this has included regular meetings with the Iraqi investigating team, unhindered access to the scene of crime, and liaison between and with the various international agencies monitoring this case. We will continue to offer this support for as long as the Iraqi authorities request it.

“At the same time we are conducting our own internal investigation into the circumstances which took place in the lead up to the incident in the early hours of Sunday morning. If any recommendations for improving our processes are made as a result of the current investigations then we will ensure that they are implemented without delay.”
