North Wales Police have had an "excellent response" to a TV appeal over the hijacking of a lorry carrying thousands of England football shirts. The replica tops, which had not even been launched in the shops, were stolen on the Deeside industrial estate. BBC's Crimewatch featured CCTV footage of the lorry being held up on 17 February. Det Con Graham Cobley said: "We have had some very encouraging leads, especially in north west England". The black Volvo lorry was on its way to the Umbro factory in Deeside when it was attacked while stopping at about 0800 GMT in Drome Road on the industrial estate. The Ray Stewart Haulage vehicle had its cab windows smashed by three men wearing balaclavas, one of whom is believed to have had a gun. The lorry driver was forced into a black people carrier, before he was was let out of the vehicle 40 miles (64km) away in Wigan, Greater Manchester an hour later and made his way to a local police station.  The new England away kit, similar to the shirts in the stolen lorry The burnt-out lorry, minus its load, was found in the St Helens area of Merseyside. Tuesday night's BBC Crimewatch appeal led to more than 20 calls to the studio. Det Con Cobley said: "We will continue to work with other forces to follow up these leads with further enquiries."
