A gang managed to empty the contents of a parcel truck after threatening the delivery driver with a gun during a terrifying hijacking in Northern Ireland.

According to police, a man brandishing a weapon approached the van while it was parked in Hibernia Street in Holywood and forced the driver to take him to east Belfast on at 1600 hours July 5.

Having arrived at the Humber Court area, a gang of men was ready to ransack the vehicle, loading the parcels into the back of an old white Mazda.

The driver was told to wait ten minutes before calling anyone and the gang drove off.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland is investigating the robbery and have called on potential witnesses who were in the areas where the swoop took place to come forward.
