Doorman's Pints Added Up To A Ban Date: Wednesday, September 01, 2010 |
Police spoke to Timothy Lomas, 43, after he had parked in a cul-de-sac. He failed a roadside breath test and at the police station he provided a reading of 59 in breath. The legal limit is 35. Guy Rogers, defending, said: "He was working in his part-time capacity as a door person at a club in Buxton. He finished work in the early hours and had a pint and went over to another club." Lomas continued to work and also had a further drink with bar staff. "At that stage he was going up and down stairs checking things on the door. He says he was unaware of the amount he actually drank." "He drove from the Market Place to his home at Hastings Road. He was aware of car behind him but didn't realise it was a police car as is wasn't showing its blue lights." Mr Rogers said a driving ban would cause problems for Lomas, who had previously served in the army, but who now worked on a self-employed basis for a company that dealt in sat nav equipment. "Some of the work he has done has been out on the road," said Mr Rogers. Lomas was banned from driving for 16 months and given the option of reducing the ban on the successful completion of a drink-driver rehabilitation course. He was fined £250, ordered to pay £85 and a £15 government surcharge. Courtesy of SecurityOracle.com - The Secury Industry's Portal |
