G4S, the UK and Ireland’s leading security solutions provider, is pleased to announce its participation in the Freight Transport Association’s (FTA) Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme (LCRS). Launched this month the voluntary scheme is a ground breaking initiative resulting from the Government’s challenge to businesses to respond to national and international climate change targets.  The scheme is a cost effective means of capturing progress that individual businesses make in tracking and reducing fuel usage and consolidating the data into a collective picture with other logistics industry operators within FTA membership.  The G4S fleet vehicles currently participating in this scheme include cash in transit vehicles from its Cash Solutions business, Care & Justice’s Detention & Escorting vehicles and Integrated Services logistics vehicles. The entire fleet consists of some 3000 + vehicles across the businesses.  John Lennox, G4S Cash Solutions, a National Council member of the FTA commented: “We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and have already implemented a number of successful initiatives across the G4S fleet to reduce environmental impact.  It is a continuing focus for our business and trials of new technologies are ongoing.
