G4S Events, Europe’s leading independent event security company, has been awarded Security Company of the Year at the first ever 2012 Event Production Awards. The inaugural awards, held in central London this week, were hosted by comedian Mark Steel and showcased the excellent and innovative work which has taken place across the events industry. The ceremony was attended by over 400 leading industry figures from organisations including St John Ambulance and Arena Group.   G4S Events were nominated in recognition of their unrivalled security provision at the V Festival in Staffordshire, one of the UK’s most popular music events which attracts over 85,000 people every year.   Over the past 16 years of working at the V festival G4S has provided crowd management, stewarding and also used specialist dog teams to prevent the use of drugs on site and guarantee festival goers have a safe and enjoyable experience. Last year saw the deployment of 1,600 G4S Events personnel and four specialist dog teams to the contract.  Eric Alexander, Managing Director of G4S Events, part of G4S Secure Solutions (UK) said: “Every year G4S Events secures hundreds of high profile events across the UK, ranging from T in the Park to Silverstone and Wimbledon.
