Britains secret intelligence service has come under attack after terrorists dispatched a parcel bomb to its HQ.

The deadly package was sent to MI6's iconic base in London's Vauxhall this week.

A second was intercepted at a postal sorting office.

Cops are quizzing two men over the plot.

The suspects, aged 52 and 21, were arrested on suspicion of explosives offences on Friday morning at separate addresses in Caernarfon, North Wales.

Officers were given more time to question the pair yesterday afternoon as searches at two addresses in the town continued.

The package sent to MI6 was discovered around 12.40pm on Wednesday.

The second suspected parcel bomb was unearthed at a sorting office in south London at around 4.30am on Thursday.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "The Metropolitan Police Service is investigating two suspect packages addressed to premises in central London.

"Both packages have been recovered by police."

In 2000 the spies' HQ was slightly damaged by a rocket attack carried out by Irish Republican Army dissidents.
