Ian Smith, 60, of Romney Walk, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to two counts of rape at Preston Crown Court.

In the early hours of Sunday, June 6, a 16-year-old boy was raped in the Perrys car sales garage in Whalley New Road, Blackburn.

He told his family later that afternoon and Smith was quickly arrested by detectives from Blackburn CID.

Smith was not employed by Perrys, but had his own security firm and was sub-contracted to work at the site. He had an office at the bottom of the car park.

Police said the victim had been through a ‘horrendous ordeal’.

After the case, Detective inspector Mark Winstanley said: “This was a lengthy ordeal for the victim which took place over a significant period of time through the night.

"The person had access to the building and the offences took place in various locations within the building.

“This was a horrendous ordeal for the victim.”

Smith has been remanded in custody until October 11 when he will be sentenced.

Paul Sagar, general sales manager at Perrys said the allegations had been ‘a shock’ for his 50 employees.

He said: “We told our staff straight away what was going on.”

It is believed married Smith had been working at Perrys for more than a year and Mr Sagar said ‘rigorous checks’ were made on all people based at the site.

Mr Sagar added that Smith’s contract was cancelled shortly after the allegations were made.
