Security Guard Injured In Cash-In-Transit Robbery Date: Wednesday, January 11, 2012 |
A security guard needed medical treatment after being confronted with the horrifying scenario of armed robbers while on a cash-in-transit run at a bank. The Metropolitan Police has confirmed that an ambulance was called the man was treated at the scene for his injuries after he was assaulted while trying to protect a cash box. Reports suggest the security van had pulled up outside the branch of HSBC in Twickenham around 12:10 Hours on January 5 when an assailant tried to grab an empty cash box. But when the guard did not release his grip, he was attacked by a second robber. Police officers were quickly on the scene but the suspects had made off before they arrived. It is believed they made their getaway in a black vehicle. DC Mick O'Mahony, who is leading the investigation for the Metropolitan Police Flying Squad, confirmed that at an appeal had been made for any witnesses.
