Six Arrests in Cash-in-Transit Robbery Probe

Officers serving with the PSNI Organised Crime Branch have arrested six men in connection with a cash-in-transit robbery in Lisburn, it has been confirmed.

The suspects were detained following a search at a house in the Poleglass area. Police say the have removed a car from the address for forensic analysis.

The robbery took place at Belsize Road in the town on July 22. A man threatened the delivery driver at knife point and forced him to hand over a cash box.

A PSNI statement said that all six men had been taken to Antrim Police Station.

Det Supt Esmond Adair, from the Organised Crime Branch, stressed that his officers are committed to clamping down on cash-in-transit robberies, which had increased this year.

He added: “We are determined to tackle this trend robustly to protect the business community and the public. This is the second successful arrest operation in the past two months.”
