Skills for Security are pleased to be supporting the first ever ‘Apprenticeship Week’. The apprenticeship week running 25th-29th February 2008, is a joint venture between the LSC and SSDEA and provides an occasion to celebrate the achievements of the apprenticeship programs for both employers and employees, and also creates awareness of the importance of apprenticeships within today’s working environment.

Apprenticeship programmes are different from traditional training programmes and are designed to promote a ‘learning culture’ in the workplace. The apprenticeship week provides you with the perfect opportunity to learn more about apprenticeships and the benefits they can provide your organisation. A whole host of activities have been planned across the country during this week, including events, webchats and interviews.

David Greer, Chief Executive of Skills for Security comments “Apprenticeships are traditionally seen as a thing of the past and not held in particularly high regard, however, modern apprenticeships provide a wealth of benefits to organisations, from increased productivity to lowering staff turnover. Apprenticeships provide employees with a great opportunity to gain both industry specific experience and a qualification to form the basis of their new career. It is exciting that apprenticeships are being recognised for their success and also to see that the Government realise their potential, by increasing the proportion of people offered the chance of an apprenticeship.”

Skills for Security offers you access to apprenticeships and advanced apprenticeships in the security systems sector. The apprenticeships take approximately three years, during which time apprentices will gain Level 2 or Level 3 Scottish/National Vocational Qualification Awards and key skills qualifications. To find out more about the schemes available, accessing funding or further details on how you can be involved with apprenticeship week, please visit Here.
