Security has been stepped up at a landmark war memorial in the Black Country after thieves stole part of its copper roofing. Metal strips were ripped off the Barr Beacon war memorial in Walsall either on Friday night or Saturday morning. Adrian Andrew, deputy leader of Walsall Council, has described the theft as "shocking and disgraceful" and said the vandals have caused major damage.
