The five were arrested in west Belfast on Thursday Four men and a 16-year-old boy are due to appear at court in Belfast charged with a number of terrorism and firearms offences.

They were charged on Tuesday night by detectives from the PSNI's Serious Crime Branch investigating alleged dissident republican activity.

The men, aged 47, 40, 34, and 33, and the 16-year-old boy were arrested after two guns were recovered during a police operation on the Falls Road in west Belfast last Thursday.

They are due to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court later.

The men were arrested at about 2200 BST last Thursday after an incident a few minutes earlier on the St James's Road in west Belfast.

It is understood a man was the target of a so-called punishment shooting in a house. It is believed that although a shot was fired, he was not injured.

The arrests took place during a police follow-up operation.
