The Scottish Qualification Authority has now accredited a Cash and Valuables in Transit qualification by NOCN.

The Scottish Qualification Authority has now accredited a Cash and Valuables in Transit qualification by NOCN. This is in line with forthcoming Security Industry Authority (SIA) licensing requirements in Scotland.

NOCN has also been accredited to provide qualifications in the following sectors:

NOCN Award in CCTV Operations (Public Space Surveillance) (Scotland)
NOCN Award in Door Supervision (Scotland)
NOCN Award in Security Guarding (Scotland)
Qualifications that are already available in Scotland:

Security Guarding: ASET Certificate for Security Guards (Scotland)
Door Supervision: BIIAB National Certificate in Door Supervision (Scotland)
Public Space Surveillance (CCTV): ASET Certificate for CCTV Operatives (Public Space Surveillance) in Scotland
Training and qualifications delivered in England and Wales can be used in support of a national SIA licence. However, with the launch of the new qualifications, training in Scotland will be delivered with a specific focus on Scottish law. Either set of SIA recognised qualifications, whether obtained in England and Wales or Scotland, will be accepted for SIA licensing.

The aim of SIA endorsed training and qualifications is to increase the skills and professionalism of those employed in the private security industry and to raise standards of performance.

From November 2007, those operating in designated private security industry roles in Scotland will be required to hold an SIA licence to work legally.
