The address is being billed as a part of the Government's wider approach to confronting extremism. But it will also be seen as part of Mr Brown's bid to broaden his public image as he gears up for a possible battle to succeed Tony Blair as Prime Minister. In February, Mr Brown unveiled plans to put together a team of financial experts in an attempt to smash terrorism funding streams. He said he wanted to create a modern equivalent of the Bletchley Park experts who cracked the Nazis' Enigma Code during the Second World War. |
