Without giving any personal or contact details, members of the security industry and public can serve their conscience and their community by whistle-blowing on unlicensed activity and calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Andy Drane, SIA Deputy Chief Executive said: "I have overall responsibility within the SIA for ensuring compliance with the legal requirements of the Private Security Industry Act 2001. To help achieve that, we at the SIA have to work smartly and punch well above our weight. We do that through an intelligence-led approach, analysing the wide range of information we gather and by developing the intelligence to guide and target our enforcement actions. I'm pleased to announce our partnership with Crimestoppers, they can offer a 24/7 service, operated by people expert in dealing with anonymous callers and in assessing the source and value of information. This will be reassuring to those who feel the need for a buffer between their supply of information and the SIA." Crimestoppers is an independent registered charity that operates across the UK to help identify, prevent and reduce crime. This invaluable community service enables anyone with details of criminal activity to pass them on anonymously, without fear of exposure or retribution. Every call is treated with absolute anonymity so that nobody will know the identity of the caller. |
