Train bombings in Mumbai killed more than 200 people earlier this year - just over a year after 52 died in the 7/7 bus and Underground bombings in London.

Moves to share experiences on protecting cities from future attack, and also combating extremism in minority populations, will feature in the talks with Indian premier Manmohan Singh.

As well as transport systems, the protection of major sporting events will be examined as India's capital Delhi hosts the 2010 Commonwealth Games two years before the Olympics arrive in London.
